Ji Mingxia watched him move about busily.
When the mini supermarket was completely empty and the back of the truck was closed, Zhou Tao came back inside and took the idol away.

The wooden niche of the idol was black, and Zhou Tao held it against his chest.
At first glance, it looked like he was holding a portrait instead of a statue.

“I have to go now, wish me luck.” Zhou Tao said to Ji Mingxia before he got into the truck.

“I wish you a smooth journey.” Ji Mingxia said.

Zhou Tao seemed to hear the meaning in Ji Mingxia’s blessing and he smiled at Ji Mingxia meaningfully: “I look forward to meeting you next time.”

With that, he climbed into the truck.

The truck started, as if to carry away the cold air of the supermarket with the Zhou Tao and the idol’s departure.

It was now nearing evening, the sun was shining down and the whole village was quiet and warm.

However, even so, Banana Leaf Village was still cold and deserted.
It was no different from yesterday when he came.

Ji Mingxia looked around.

It was the only small supermarket in the village but Ji Mingxia did not see any villagers participate in the whole process of moving the goods of the Zhou family.

Let alone go up to help, people didn’t even pass by.

When Zhou Tao’s truck left, Ji Mingxia discovered that quite a few residents were actually standing on the second floor of their homes, quietly watching him leave.

Their behavior further confirmed Ji Mingxia’s suspicions.

The Zhou family had a problem, and the entire village knew it.

However, they did not leave Banana Leaf Village, and have been tolerating the Zhou family’s existence.

The villagers quietly watched the Zhou family leave but there was no joyful look on their faces.

Was it because they were worried that the Zhou family would come back again after recovering in the hospital?

Ji Mingxia lowered his head and looked at his fingers.

Zhou Tao left with the bizarre idol, the supermarket no longer had a chilly atmosphere and at first glance, it looked like Banana Leaf Village had broken free from the gloom and returned to the sunlight.

But his ring was still emitting a faint red light.

Seeing this, Ji Mingxia lowered his eyes and hid the expression on his face.

Zhou Tao said that the seafood delivery people would at five o’clock.
He waited for about half an hour and saw the courier deliver a foam box.

After seeing that the recipient was Ji Mingxia, the courier froze for a moment: “Are you Ji Mingxia?”

“Well, I am.” Ji Mingxia said.

The expression on the courier’s face showed fear.
He handed the foam box to Ji Mingxia, turned around and ran away.

It was not the first time that Ji Mingxia had seen such an expression from the people in the other villages.

The driver looked at him the same way when they reached the village.

At that time, he did not know what had been happening in the village.
But this time, he didn't understand why the courier made such an expression.

Ji Mingxia looked down after the courier had left.

The surface of the box was sealed by with transparent adhesive so the contents inside couldn’t be seen.
In addition, a few yuan were pressed under the box.

This box of seafood was for Auntie Cheng, so the money was naturally also hers.

Ji Mingxia didn’t touch the money and he carried the box towards Auntie Cheng’s home.

He came to the door of Auntie Cheng’s house and at normal times, would certainly knock on the door but considering the ghost knocking on the door phenomena in the village, polite knocking in the village had already become synonymous with terror.

Ji Mingxia was hesitating on how to contact Auntie Cheng when the courtyard gate opened and Auntie Cheng came out from her home.

Auntie Cheng froze for a moment upon seeing Ji Mingxia standing outside the door and asked: “You are ……”

Ji Mingxia did not expect that Aunt Cheng wouldn’t recognize him.
Could it be that the original owner didn’t deal with the village people for all these years?

But thinking of the stiff relationship between the original owner and his grandmother, he did not even want to return home, so it wasn’t surprising that the villagers didn’t know him.

Ji Mingxia politely said, “Auntie Cheng, I’m Mingxia.”

“Mingxia?” Auntie Cheng was a little surprised.
Her shriveled and aging face showed a smile, “You have grown so big, how old are you now? Are you a high school student, or are you in college?”

“I just finished the college entrance exam.” Ji Mingxia said.

“Just finished the exam ah, that’s good.
You should go out more to relax, play around a bit and then go to college.
Why did you return to the village?” Aunt Cheng asked.

Ji Mingxia felt that her words seemed a bit strange, but he could not find any fault for a while.

He said, “Grandma is here so I had to come back, otherwise she would be angry.”

Ji Mingxia’s words were just a casual remark and a very common household phrase but unexpectedly, Auntie Cheng frowned slightly at his words.

However, this was only a momentary expression.
She knew that Ji Mingxia hadn’t come for no reason so she said, “You came to Auntie, is there something wrong?”

Ji Mingxia raised the box in his hand to Auntie Cheng: “I met Zhou Tao on the way.
Their family has moved out and he couldn’t deliver the seafood to you, so I helped him out.”

Auntie Cheng’s face changed greatly on hearing this.
She looked at the foam box in front of her and took a step back.
Than she looked at Ji Mingxia in shock: “What did you say?”

Ji Mingxia didn’t know which sentence had stimulated Auntie Cheng, so he repeated his words again.

While speaking, Ji Mingxia carefully observed Auntie Cheng’s expression.

He thought that Auntie Cheng was shocked that Zhou Tao had moved out, and he wanted to find some clues from her.

However, the strange thing was that Auntie Cheng's face changed at the last sentence.

Zhou Tao asked him to help with the delivery which he also felt was strange.

But when he declined, Zhao Tao said he’d come back at night to deliver.
Ji Mingxia thought about it, and finally decided to agree to his request considering the safety of the village.

He was prepared for something fishy when the courier handed him the foam box, but there was no abnormality.

Therefore, he guessed that there was something wrong with the seafood contained in the foam box but this wasn’t his item.
He couldn’t take the liberty to open it.

He originally planned to see Auntie Cheng’s reaction after the delivery, and even hoped that she could open the foam box on the spot to see.

But the result was unexpected.
The box had not been opened, but Aunt Cheng seemed to understand something.
She even unconsciously took a step back, as if he did something terrible!

“Auntie Cheng, what’s the problem?” Ji Mingxia couldn’t help but ask.

Auntie Cheng, however, lowered her head and refused to say anything.

Ji Mingxia could not see her expression, and her inner thoughts were impossible to guess.
He was about to speak when Auntie Cheng said, “You hurry back to ….your grandmother and ask.”

With that, Aunt Cheng took the foam box with terror in her eyes and flew back into the house.

The gate closed, and there was no movement after she entered the house.
Ji Mingxia was left standing outside the door alone.

Ji Mingxia was shocked.

He was the one who saw Zhou Tao, and he was the one who delivered the goods, so what did this have to do with his grandmother?

Could it be that she was in danger?

This thought left Ji Mingxia in chaos.  Without further hesitation, he turned and ran back home.

The dusky sunset enveloped the entire Banana Leaf Village.
The path was quiet and only the sound of Ji Mingxia’s footsteps echoed continuously.

Auntie Cheng’s house was not far from Grandma Ji’s house, and there was no one along the way, so Ji Mingxia got through unhindered.  Within a few moments, he had returned to Grandma Ji’s house.

At this time, the sun was setting, the street lights were on, and the whole Banana Leaf Village had entered night time.

His finger was about to touch the lock and an image flashed through his mind.
Ji Mingxia suddenly remembered something, and his hand unconsciously stopped.

Every detail of what happened from the time he entered the village was replayed in his mind.

He looked at the gate before him and suddenly understood something.

He didn’t open the lock to go inside, and took a step back.

When he stepped back, a black shadow suddenly appeared at the gate of Grandma Ji’s house.

“Knock, knock, knock” the knocking sound came from inside the Ji family gate and immediately after, the originally closed door automatically opened from the inside.

The lights were off, it was dark inside the house and Grandma Ji’s figure was nowhere to be seen.

An eerie chill came from inside the courtyard, making Ji Mingxia’s body cold and only the area with the ring on his finger felt a little warm.

A familiar voice came from the courtyard and drifted into Ji Mingxia’s ears: “Mingxia, we meet again.”

The owner of the voice was no other than Zhou Tao, who had just left in the evening!

He left with great fanfare in front of the entire village, but within a few moments, he not only returned to Banana Leaf Village, but also infiltrated the Ji family!

Ji Mingxia heard his voice and his face instantly sank.
But thinking of Grandma Ji, he forced himself to calm down.
He pulled the corners of his mouth to show a fake smile, and said through clenched teeth, “Zhou Tao, didn’t you go to the hospital for cancer treatment, why are you at my house so late at night?”

“I do need treatment, but when did I say that I was going to the hospital ……” Zhou Tao’s voice sounded broken, as if it came from another world.

“You have cancer so don’t you have to go to the hospital for chemotherapy, only science can save you, everything else is an illusion.” Ji Mingxia said, while trying to look around for Zhao Tao.

However, Zhou Tao did not give him time.
He did not answer Ji Mingxia’s question, but said to Ji Mingxia: “Mingxia, this is your home, don’t you want to come inside?”

Ji Mingxia looked at the black gate.
It looked like a beast’s mouth that could devour him at any time.

Zhou Tao urged, “Me, and your grandmother, are waiting for you inside.”

His voice sounded distant yet close and there was an eerie laughter to it.

To Ji Mingxia, his safest place had turned into a ghastly cave at the moment and it looked a million times more horrible than the mini supermarket.

But he could not retreat.

Grandma Ji was still inside, and Zhou Tao had come for him.

Thinking of this, Ji Mingxia curbed his rapid breathing.
He tried to control his emotions, and finally took a step forward and walked in.
