Chapter 181: An Enemy That Cannot Be Left Alone

“Ah…”  

 

“Ow…”  

 

On the street where Lillet’s Desserts Shop is, a number of figures were lying there while moaning in pain.  They practically filled up the whole street even.  

 

Some of them were dressed gaudily.  Those were obviously nobles.  Some were fully armed and armored.  Those are obviously their guards.  There were even knights among those lying there.  All of them where twitching about on the around in obvious pain.  

 

And Airi was standing right in the middle of that horrific scene.  She had one hand still holding her pillow and the other with a piece of dessert in it.  She’s even still taking small bites out of it all the while, as if everything around her had nothing to do with her.  Or rather, that the horrific scene around her was utterly unimportant.  

 

“J-just what is this?”  

 

Shien was stunned.  

 

He only left for a bit, so how it it all turn out like this?  

 

“Eh?”  

 

Airi seemed to have detected Shien’s return, so she turned her head, looked toward the still stunned Shien, and started walking towards him.  

 

“You’re done with your matter?”  

 

Airi simply stepped past everyone on the ground until she was before Shien and asked in an unconcerned manner.

It was like nothing had happened at all.  

 

“I-I’m back.”  Shien was a bit slow in reacting before he finally came back to himself, “What’s up with those people?”  

 

“What do you mean by what’s up?”  Airi didn’t understand what Shien was getting at and tilted her head, “Weren’t you the one who told me to send them flying?”  

 

“Me?”  Shien pointed to himself before remembering.  

 

Right before he left, he did indeed tell Airi to not go too far and not to be tricked.  That if someone tries to chat her up and get her to go with them, she should send them flying with a punch.  

 

In other words…  

 

“So those guys became like this because they tried to chat you up?”  

 

Shien’s eyes widened.  

 

“Hn.”  Airi nodded without any hurry, “At first, it was just a bunch of guys with disgusting clothes, disgusting smiles, and disgusting tone of voice who tried to get me to go with them.  They claimed to have something fun that they wanted to teach me, so I sent them flying.  Then the guards with them tried to surround me, so I sent them flying too.  Then some knights just so happened to have been patrolling nearby saw me send those previous guys flying and tried to take me away, so I sent them flying as well.”  

 

“That’s how it turned out this way.”  

 

After hearing Airi’s words, Shien had nothing to say anymore.  

 

“What is it?”  Airi frowned as she saw Shien’s stunned look, “Weren’t you the one who told me to do things this way?  Is there a problem?”  

 

It looks like this little girl only did what she did because of Shien’s directions.

Shien only had one thing to say to that.  

 

“Of course there’s no problems.”  

 

Although things did escalate a bit beyond Shien’s expectations, this all only happened because Airi obediently followed Shien’s directions.  

 

Shien only really had one word he wanted to say to this obedience and adorable little loli – “Nice.”  

 

Although, things did get a bit out of control there.  That part is true as well.  

 

Putting aside the fact that nobles got beaten up, even the kingdom’s knights were sent sprawling.  If news of this matter spread, then there’s a 100% chance that it would end up with the law enforcement of the Capital getting involved or some nobles looking them up to settle their grudge.  

 

Therefore…  

 

“Wait a bit.  I’m going to do some cleaning up after you first.”  

 

Shien handed the divine realm books he had with him to Airi before heading toward the people lying on the ground.  

 

Airi took those books without any particular care, but when she saw the cover of those books, she had a small reaction and looked toward Shien.  

 

But Shien had already begun dealing with the issue at hand.  

 

How did he do that?  

 

It was simple.  First, he slapped those nobles awake, then he woke up the leader of the knights.  Then, before they had a chance to start making trouble, he showed them the royal token.

With that, everyone turned quite obedient.  Not only did each of them hurriedly apologize, they even ran away immediately, not daring to make any issue of the matter.  

 

After finishing up, Shien muttered as he looked at the pendant.  

 

“This thing is actually pretty useful.”  

 

That’s true enough.  

 

Only, the more Shien uses it, the faster the fact that he got the royal token from Lucy would end up getting exposed.  If that happened, then he was going to end up buried in troubles.  

 

“Well, it that happens, I’ll just deal with it the same as always.  Rocks to the crotch will solve all my problems there.”  

 

Shien put the pendant away and went back to Airi.  

 

“I’ve made you wait.”  

 

Shien smiled at Airi like an indulgent father with his child.  

 

Airi shook her head.  She handed Shien his books back as she casually spoke, “You’re investigating the matter of the Hero?”  

 

“You noticed huh?”  Shien stopped for a moment before shrugging, “I’m just checking up on it casually is all.”  

 

“There’s no way that you can get these books just by casually checking up on it.”  Air stared at Shien and smiled, “These books might not be all that big a deal in the divine realm, but they’re pretty valuable here in the mortal world.  There’s a lot of secrets recorded in it that is unknown here in the mortal world, so a lot of authority figures would probably try to get a hold of it by any means necessary.”  

 

“Seriously?”  Shien was quite surprised at that, “These couple of books are really that valuable?”

“They are, at least in this world.”  Airi nodded, “Of course, they’re not that big a deal in the divine realm or the demon world.  Secrets of this level aren’t really much of a secret anymore to the gods or demons.”  

 

“So that’s how it is.”  Shien sighed, “Then what’s your opinion of the Hero?”  

 

Shien was only asking casually.  

 

However, Airi had very seriously considered that question.  

 

“In the past, I’ve always considered them an enemy that cannot be left alone.”  Airi begun, “They’re the natural enemy of demons.  For demon, the Holy Swords born from them are the deadliest weapons in the world.  Any demon, no matter how strong, would be heavily injured if stuck by the Holy Sword.  If they were slain by the Holy Sword, then they’re completely unrecoverable, not even by the Demon King.”  

 

Thanks to that, the past Airi could be said to be one of the most guarded people against the Hero.  Her hostility against Heroes was even stronger than the Demon King’s.  Thus, there were multiple times where she fought without holding anything back, and in the end, that’s how she managed to have the deaths of two Heroes under her belt.  

 

Therefore…  

 

“Demons are very sensitive to the existence of Heroes.  If a Hero appeared, it would definitely end up provoking a number of people, and thus cause a number of changes to the direction of the demon race as a whole.”  Airi seemed to speak with hidden meanings, “This Capital seems to have a little girl who has been called the Hero of the current era.  She ended up provoking a lot a people as well.  Ten years ago, one of the main reasons why the Old Demon Faction appeared here is probably because they wanted to kill her.”  

 

“…  Is that so?”  Shien went silent for a moment before asking Airi, “Then what’s your current thoughts on the Hero?”  

 

Shien just asked outright.  

 

Airi just stared at Shien.  Then, after a bit, she smiled.  

 

“I don’t know myself.”  

 

That was the answer that Airi gave.
