Considering Future Actions

——————————-

I returned from the Labyrinth City to the House in the land of death.
After quickly finishing my business in the Labyrinth City, Dyne came to me and asked if I could create a fountain for the contract.
I feel like there’s some trivial reason hidden behind it.

“If I can’t make a fountain properly, can’t we just buy one in the Labyrinth City?”

“Well, in that case, Nomos-chan and Dolly-chan would end up making the contract before onee-chan.”

Even though it seems like the order of the contract doesn’t really change anything, she’s strangely insistent on the order.
I don’t really understand what she wants.

“Hmm, do we really need a fountain?”

“It’s absolutely necessary.
The center of this House by the Spring is this fountain, so it needs to be magnificent!”

I can hear Dyne muttering something about wanting to stand out.

“Anyway, Yuta.
One-chan’s request.
Please make the fountain!”

It sounds like the way a heroine would ask to be taken to the Koshien baseball tournament.
Well, it seems like I won’t be able to settle this unless I make it.

Dyne’s eyes look desperate for some reason… She said she would make the water spout, so if it’s just the fountain, maybe I can manage… I haven’t even thought about making a fountain before, so I can’t even judge if I can do it or not.

“Alright, I got it.
But I can only make something really simple, okay?”

“Thank you, Yuta-chan.
Onee-chan is happy.”

Dyne is overjoyed.
It’s strange how when someone is so genuinely happy, it makes you feel like you have to do your best.

“Well then, I will make the contract after finishing the fountain for Dyne and selecting the beneficial insects.
Is it alright if I make your contract last Nomos?”

“Hmph.
I don’t mind.
Dyne is the only one who cares about the order.
Do as you please.”

Dolly and Nomos are confirming the order, but we easily reached a decision.
Both of them are adults.

“Oh, by the way, Nomos.
In the labyrinth, Turu found a mithril vein for us, so I went and mined it.
But I’m not sure you can extract mithril?”

“Mithril, huh? Easy peasy.
Once we make the contract, I’ll take care of it.
Look forward to it.”

He readily agreed as if it was no big deal.
I wonder how much mithril we’ll be able to obtain.
I’m just too excited about mithril.

“Nomos, thank you.
Dolly, how are things in the fields?”

“The crops in the field will still take some time.
However, if you brought soil, Tamamo can make them grow rapidly.”

…Rapid growth, huh? If we didn’t have any vegetables, I would definitely ask for that, but I bought plenty of vegetables in the labyrinth city.
There’s no need to push ourselves.
We have plenty of resources, so let’s enjoy watching the vegetables grow at a relaxed pace.

“I brought plenty of soil, but since I also bought a lot of vegetables, let’s just patiently wait for the vegetables in the field to grow.”

“Understood.
I’ll keep an eye on their growth.”

“Thank you.
I’ve asked everything I wanted to, so I’ll take a break too.
Oh, I bought some alcohol.
Shall we have a drink? I’ll bring out a few bottles.”

“Cheers!”

The voices of the Great Spirits chimed in harmony.

“Alright, got it.
Let’s start with ale and wine.
Should we have both red and white?”

Naturally, they nodded in agreement, so I prepared cups and brought out barrels of ale, red wine, and white wine.
I also put out some smoked meat that I bought in the labyrinth city as snacks.

“Sylphy, I’ll sleep in the kitchen, so could you put up a wind barrier in the mobile base? Also, don’t drink too much.”

“Got it.
Goodnight, Yuta.”

She was captivated by the alcohol.
Is it okay? I have a slight hint of worry, but it’s too late to bring it up now.
Well, they’re spirits, so it should be fine.

I entered the mobile base and stored the stone table and chairs that were in the kitchen, replacing them with a bed.
It’s quite impressive considering how particular I was about it.

“Foooh.
We’re bouncing!” “Kyuu.” “Not bad.” “Kuu.”

I was deprived of my first dive onto the bed by Bell and the others.
Well, it’s fine because they’re cute.
But I wonder if it’s really necessary to interfere and bounce using magic? Anyway, I lie down on the bed as well.
It’s quite comfortable… and for some reason, Bell and the others climb on top of me…

“Shall we all sleep together today?”

“Sleepy.” “Kyu Kyu.” “Together.” “Kuu.”

For the time being, I stroke Bell and the others while we all decide to sleep together.
I manage to put the excited and restless spirits to sleep and then settle down on the bed.

But there are quite a few things I need to take care of.
Let me organize them once.

Create a mobile base for Sara and the others.

Create a fountain.

Make a contract with Dyne.

Sort the beneficial insects.

Make a contract with Dolly.

Develop the land (currently 6 out of 25 completed).

Make a contract with Nomos.

Find a place to dry wood.

Level up Sara and the others.

Extract mithril (once a contract with Nomos is done).

Create glass products (once a contract with Nomos is done).

Is that everything? I feel like I’m forgetting something, but I’ll add it later if I remember.
I plan to go to the Labyrinth City in about ten days, so I wonder how much I can accomplish? Well, I have to steadily do what I can.

For now, I should start with sorting the beneficial insects.
It’s regrettable to dispose of them, but it’s necessary.
If I carelessly release them here without any natural enemies, they will multiply uncontrollably… and that won’t end well.
I fall asleep while thinking about my plans in my head.
Even when I come back, there will still be plenty to do.

——————–

I wake up feeling refreshed.
It seems like I was able to get a really good night’s sleep.
I gently place Bell, who had been on top of me, back on the bed…

“Yuta, good morning!”

As soon as I lift her up, Bell’s eyes open wide, and she giggles, giving me a bright morning greeting.
Rain, Turu, and Tamamo, probably awakened by her voice, also wake up and exchange their morning greetings.
Everyone seems to have good waking habits.

I store the bed away and set up the table and chairs I bought, then go to check on Sara and the others.
…They’re still sound asleep.
We can have breakfast after they wake up.

Sara said she wants to learn cooking, but it seems like I won’t have time for a while, so I’ll just make do with ready-made meals.
While considering taking shortcuts, I step outside.

“…Oh.
Have they been drinking the whole time?”

When I go outside, I see the four Great Spirits chatting and holding cups in their hands.
The ale barrel is frozen on the outside, and they seem to be enjoying it.

“Oh, Yuta, you’re awake.
Good morning.” “Yuta-chan, good morning!” “Oh, is it already that late?” “Good morning, Yuta-san.”

They all seem to be in a good mood.
Is it the feeling of being slightly tipsy?

“Everyone, good morning.
I don’t know if excessive drinking is harmful to spirits, but please refrain from staying up all night drinking from now on.
We have children now, and it’s not good for their education.”

I need to clean up before Sara and the others wake up.
It’s difficult to explain the spirits’ drinking party.
Oh, Bell and the others are flying around and peering into the barrels.
I showed the spirits’ children something they shouldn’t be seeing.

“Mm, you’re right.
It’s not something adults should do if it has a negative influence on children.”

Nomos, who said that, quickly finishes the cup he’s holding.
I thought Nomos, being like a dwarf, would be fixated on alcohol, but he surprisingly has common sense.

In response to Nomos’ words, Sylphy, Dyne, and Dolly also nod and finish their drinks before standing up.

“Yuta, thank you for the treat.”

“Yuta-chan, the alcohol was delicious.
I’ll ask for more next time.”

“That’s right.
I’ll count on you again.”

“Thank you for the treat, Yuta-san.”

It feels like offering sacred sake to a god.
So, there’s no problem with giving them alcohol, but it feels different when they’re drinking right in front of me.

I wash the cups and put them away.
Next, I try to store the barrels, but the ale and red wine barrels are empty.
As for the white wine… only about one-fifth remains.
They went through nearly three barrels among the four of them… That’s excessive.
I feel a bit scared as I store the barrels.

“Master, good morning.
I apologize for oversleeping.”

Sara rushes over in a panic.
Following behind her, Marco approaches quickly while carrying a still sleepy Kika on his back… What are they in such a hurry about? Fukuchan and Uri also fly over together, but they have a relaxed atmosphere.
I guess nothing serious has happened.

Ah, are you one of those who say, “What? You woke up later than your master!”? Is this a scolding scene?

…No, no, it’s not like that.
While it’s important to get angry if you’ve done something wrong, I can’t afford to get angry over something like this.

“Good morning, everyone.
I didn’t tell you to wake up by a certain time, so it’s okay.
Make sure to sleep well and do your best when you wake up.”

After all, these kids will be fighting zombies at night, so it’s natural for them to wake up late in the morning.
It would be troublesome if I got mad over something like that.
Maybe I should let them take a nap too.
Oh, when I spoke, Kika jumped at the sound of my voice.
It’s kind of sad.

“Yes, I’ll do my best.”

Sara replied with a relieved expression.
Am I really that intimidating? …Well, they were brought to the Land of Death by someone they barely knew.
It’s normal to be scared.
I’ll do my best to help them relax and ease their tension as soon as possible.

“Well then, let’s have breakfast.
I think we’ll be busy for a while, so forgive me for serving pre-made food.”

Since I’m an amateur at cooking, there’s a possibility that pre-made food might taste better… I’m curious about Dragon Steak though.
Assault Dragons, Wyverns, Fire Dragons, Marie-san said they were all delicious, so there’s a lot to look forward to.

We returned to the kitchen and set the food on the table.
We had soup from a food stall, skewered Orc meat and rough bird, and bread.
With the addition of the soup, the meal became more extravagant.

…I feel like tears are welling up.
In the Labyrinth City, I used to appreciate the nuances between grilled fish, steamed fish, and simmered fish in my meals.
But here in the Land of Death, there’s no need to feel the contrast in meals anymore.

“Um, Master.
Do you eat this much?”

Sara asked curiously.

“There’s also food for the spirits.
Fuku-chan and Uri have a hard time with the skewers, so Sara and Marco will help remove them.”

I also removed the skewers from Rain and Tamamo and placed them on plates.
Sara and Marco hesitantly followed suit and removed the skewers.

“Well, let’s eat.”

As I spoke, Bell and the others swarmed around the breakfast.
Sara, Marco, and Kika were dumbfounded.
It’s understandable since they can’t see them.

“Come on, Sara, Marco, Kika, you can eat too.
Give permission for Fuku-chan and Uri to eat as well.”

When Sara and Marco gave permission to eat, Fuku-chan and Uri started happily eating.
With Sara, Marco, Kika, Fuku-chan, and Uri joining us after going to the Labyrinth City, the menu for meals has expanded.
Despite the conflicts that may have occurred, seeing the dining table become even more lively, I feel like it’s not a bad result.
