Nathasia came out of her disconcerted thoughts upon hearing those three words in the most gentle tone she had ever heard of him.

She felt a lump in her throat and turned her head to see Damien walking away already. But she still asked in a shaky voice, ”Why? ”

Damien slightly turned his head around and answered, ”For everything. ” And then he walked away.

’Why did you say that…You don ’t deserve to say that…. ’ Nathasia thought as she only felt even more guilty hearing his words.

Damien went into the only bathroom in the building and began to take a shower as his mind slipped into his thoughts which were in shambles.

Before, he thought that he would get some solace after killing the ones responsible for Sofie ’s death. But now, he was still feeling a large hole in his heart, and it didn ’t seem to get any better even after killing Merlin.

Inwardly he felt frustration and anger building up again, but he suppressed them, feeling that these emotions were of no use now that he had vented it upon all the people he wanted to kill.

He knew it was the pure frustration of knowing that no matter what he does or whomever he kills, he was never going to see Sofie again. What ’s lost was forever lost.

As the cold water from the shower continued to wash down his body, he leaned his head against the tiles and closed his eyes, wanting to see her beautiful smile again.

He remembered how lonely and miserable he felt after losing Sofie. It was as his whole world broke down at that moment. But now he noticed that after coming upon Nathasia and her following him for all this time, he strangely began to feel things he believed he would never feel again.

Despite treating her like someone worthless and even threatening to kill her multiple times, he couldn ’t understand why she still stuck around him like glue.

He wondered if her determination to get revenge was more than he imagined. But then again, he was sure he killed whoever killed her parents since he didn ’t leave a single one alive in the military safehouse Nathasia was imprisoned in.
