”Gigi, see me after class. ” Miss Oregano said placing my chemistry paper on my desk. Soon, the class was murmuring and I looked around and saw Chevy and Harpers seats empty. In a corner, Jax winked at me and I looked away quickly. I was always the topic of discussion after class just because of scoring lower grades in Chem.

”Right. ” I composed myself and gave her an assuring look. I had failed another test again.

Suddenly, the principal barged in and Miss Oregano silenced the class.

”Gigi Adams, to my office this minute! ” She said and I stood up wasting no minute. Thats the way she worked, at impulse and we had to be on our toes or else youll find yourself in a one week detention and scrubbing floors. Hurrying down the hallway, she asked, ”Did you pick a fight with Harper this morning? ”

”No,I didn fight with her. What did she tell you? ”

”If that boy didn save her, she could have gotten hurt instead, ” she expressed her worry for her. I don why she worshipped Harpers parents. Was it because her father was one of the board members? But even so, why would she twist the story? I wasn after Chevy or anything.

Upon opening the door to her office, Harper and Chevy were there.

”Have a sit Adams, she said and I pulled one of the chairs sitting down. I looked at Chevys hand and there was a bandage around it. I now felt guilty because he sacrificed his hand to get his damsels **ing papers. Harper rolled her eyes when she saw me looking at him. Chevy was also aware of her insecurities but didn stop peeking at me as if he was loathed to stare intently at me.

”Adams, Im giving you a two-week suspension for trying to harm your classmates. ” The principal concluded.

”What the heck Harper! You know thats not true! ” I shrilled.

”See the way shes talking back at me. ” Harper faked a cry for the principal to take her side.

”Adams you should be remorseful, apologize to her. ” She ordered.

”No! I didn do anything wrong. What about you Chevy, you saw everything. ” I turned to him because I believed hed slap her in the face by telling the principal the whole truth.

”Chevy is not in a position to say anything, he was badly hurt because of you. ” Harper was quick to speak definitely not wanting him to talk.

”Chevy, say something! ” I insisted and didn know when tears had started brimming my vision cascading down my chubby cheeks.

I was having a rough day and Harper was on my neck trying to get me out of the way. I was tired of others stepping on me, manipulating and freaking me out. I wiped my tears and composed myself ready to leave the principals office. Enough of their bullshit!

”See you in two weeks time. ” I gave in and walked out. I didn want to stoop so low to apologize to that rich spoilt brat. I was done being that weak soul to everyone. Suddenly I felt a pair of hands around my waist pushing me to the wall.

”Im sorry, I should have defended you earlier. Harper has convinced the principal to let it go. No need to go home. ”

It was Chevy and for a moment I didn feel his hands on my waist, I looked into his eyes and he too stared at me intently. He moved his hands and wiped my tears away. The sound of someone banging the lockers made me come back to my senses. I moved further away from him and said, ” Maybe you promised her good s*x, what else should I expect from guys like you. Do me a favor and stay out of my way. Don even think of coming closer to me ever again! ”

I walked back to class and took my satchel and left school without even looking back. After that, I took a cab to the woods, my solace place whenever I had a lot going on my mind. There was a river flowing downstream and so I took off my school attire and went swimming. Its what I loved doing ever since I was a little child.
