Chapter 133: An ace in the sleeve

“…Are you unable to keep up with my logic, or is it the other way around instead?” The edge of Gordon’s mouth twitched.

“Hahaha! …Stop arguing, you two.
You’ll be on your way together in a moment, so it’d be best to mutually exchange your feelings a little.
At least, you’ll have each other for company while you two are on the trip there.” An evil grin appeared on each of the troll’s faces as a distorted form of human language left their mouths.
They slowly stepped closer towards Ji Bai and Gordon who stood in the room’s center.

The pair looked at each other, before drawing their respective weapons and taking up position back to back.

“Turn the light off, sorcerer.
Or, do you think we’re still not eye-catching enough?”

“This is magic, not some simple light.” Although Gordon corrected him in a cold tone, he still followed Ji Bai’s words and canceled the fluorescent light technique.

Its shine instantly dimmed down.

“Weak humans, you won’t escape!” The trolls brandished the weapons, formed up a battle formation, and rushed forth, seemingly intending to turn the pair into pulp.

“Sorcerer, why are there trolls here?”

“Stop asking such irrelevant and trivial questions in a fight, knight!”

The two of them hurriedly bore through gaps— making their escape under the crotch of the trolls that were charging forward with unstoppable momentum.
In doing so, they escaped the likelihood of being crushed into pulps.

“Just the arrival of a single second-tier creature would be enough to deal with us; They must have thought extremely highly of us to dispatch so many at once.”

“If you want to complain, you can do it after we’ve survived this.”

The actions of the pair evading attacks while chatting at the same time thoroughly infuriated all trolls present.

“Arrogant humans, watch how I crush you into minced meat!”

[Crushing Class—Spirit Wolf’s Flame]

Turquoise raging flames traveled through the troll’s lungs and spurted out from its mouth, causing the entire room to be filled with turquoise dusky light.

The raging flames brushed against Ji Bai as they streaked past him, disseminating traces of a clear churred smell.

Ji Bai promptly took off his brigandine armor and threw it on the floor.

[Common Class—Lightning Gale Decapitator]

The fang-shaped longsword streaked across the air.
The attack, as quick as lightning, was a feast for the eyes as it struck the troll’s abdomen.

“Guak…” The weapon of vampire craftsmanship cut open the troll’s belly, knocking it backward.

The iron helmet turned around and gazed at the trolls that were charging towards him on the other side.

“Where’s your magic, sorcerer? If you don’t want to die, hurry up and use it.”

“I’ve already used it all up.
I’m not even an apprentice sorcerer, so the amount of magic I can unleash every day is just within the realms of a single digit, alright??”

Gordon didn’t like the current situation either.
He had continuously battled back-to-back against several groups of trolls, and it was not too far off to say that he had already exhausted everything he had; All the swordsmanship, dirty tricks, and dodges he was capable of.
His fire sword enchantment was obviously not of high rank and the effects it could cause to a second-tier species were shallow; The best it could do was to temporarily force them back.

The pair was outmatched very quickly.

“Pah!”

“Thud!”

Ji Bai and Gordon were swatted into the air by the trolls and crashed against each other.

“Heh, heh, heh… Lowly humans, you actually dare burn your daddy’s clothes? No matter what, today I will crush your arms and rip out your organs!”

The troll leader signaled for his subordinates to retreat.
After moving his arms about a little, he revealed a disgusting sinister smile.

“Can you still fight, knight?”

“No.” Answered Ji Bai, his iron helmet drooping downwards.

“Then, what should we do now?”

“I don’t know.”

“Wait for our death?”

“See how this daddy wrings out both of your maggots’ heads!” The troll leader threw its weapon aside and cracked its joints, causing popping noises to resound.

Their backs against a corner, the duo shot a glance at each other then stopped moving altogether.

Just when the troll leader became convinced that the pair had lost their combat ability, the two of them suddenly shot up from the ground.

“Waiting for our death? As-if!”

[Crushing class—Watcher’s Fury]

“Go to hell.”

[Crushing class—Watcher’s Fury]

“What…” In shock, the troll leader saw two longswords whistling through the air towards it.

Without giving it time to react, they separately smashed themselves against its shoulders.

“Boom!”

“Puh…!” The troll leader’s face turned limp as it took a step backward.
It then spat out a mouthful of fresh blood and fell on its back.

“Even if we die, we’ll have to drag one down with us.” Snorted Gordon.

“What gall you have! Humans!” The troll subordinates in the rear were surging with anger as they glared at the two humans with glaring eyes.

“I’m afraid we really won’t be able to leave alive this time.”

The trolls had already been completely driven into a frenzy.

“…” Ji Bai slowly walked forward.

“You still have an ace up your sleeves?” Gordon shot a glance at him.

“If you don’t reveal the secrets.”

“I can swear an oath on that… There’s no other choice now.”

Ji Bai threw his iron helmet on the ground.
A pure and holy silverish raging flame gathered at the center of his palm as he slowly began to move towards the trolls.

‘A Sacred Martial Ability?’

Gordon narrowed his eyes.

[Sacred Martial Ability], to put it plainly, was the manifestation of the [magic] within a human body.
While knights capable of materializing their [Sacred Martial Ability] were indeed exceptionally gifted, it was still a bit too far-fetched if they wished to rely just on that to cross realms in battle.

Gordon didn’t carry much hope for Ji Bai to be able to turn the tide of the battle.

“Hmph! Just some human’s parlor tricks.” A troll swung its warhammer, sending it crashing towards Ji Bai without mercy.

“Crack.” Ji Bai crushed the raging flames in his palm as if inviting them to spread.
They then speedily made their way across Ji Bai’s entire body, turning him entirely into a lump of silver raging flames.

“This is…” Gordon’s complexion turned grave.

“Whoosh!” Carrying within it sliver-raging flames, a beautiful armor glittering in dark silvery light materialized and ferociously knocked against the troll’s abdomen.

“Guhk!” A stuffled groan resounded.
The troll soldier, who had stood as firm and steady as a mountain, foamed from the mouth and flew outwards like a kite whose strings had been cut.

“Human! What have you done??” The crowd of trolls looked at their comrade that had passed out, their faces full of shock.

The remaining flames slowly scattered away, leaving behind a bright, resplendent, and eye-dazzling dark silvery light.
The scattered holy particles then swept along in long blue tassels and rose upwards.

A chilly gaze burst forth from behind the flat V-shaped seams of a helmet and coldly locked onto the trolls before his eyes.

An enormous amount of pure [magic] incessantly released outwards, as bright holy particles lit up the dark-silvery armor, causing it to dazzle the eyes.

…………

In the early morning, inside a high-class cafe in Border Town.

“Young Missus, we’ve already stayed a good few days in the Border Town.
Since the border is a desolate wasteland, your grandfather is concerned that Young Missus’ lack of acclimatization to the area will cause her appetite to lessen.
He wishes that Young Missus will return as soon as possible.” The goatee knight said deferentially to a black-haired girl clad in a ceremonial robe and skirt.

“Mhm.” The young girl gave a grunt to express that she had received the message.
Her hair streaming downwards like a waterfall, she was currently closing her eyes and recuperating.

His message conveyed, the goatee knight spoke no further.
He then continued to stand quietly beside Ji Yue like a statue.

“…” Ji Yue’s drooped eyes suddenly shot open as a peculiar expression flashed past her dazzling purple pupils.

“? What’s wrong, young Missus?” Although the goatee knight was someone well acquainted with his young lady’s personality, her reaction earlier was an abnormality for him.

“…It’s nothing.
Just my imagination.” Saying this, Ji Yue closed her eyes once more.

…………

“This armor…Why does it look somewhat familiar…” Gordon frowned slightly.

“Damn human, I’ll kill you!” A troll foot soldier bellowed as they grabbed their axes and charged.

“Clang!” Its axes whistled through the air and ferociously smashed against radiant shoulder pauldrons.
The counter-impact shockwave instantly shook and shattered the handle of the axe, sending the troll foot soldier staggering backward.

Ji Bai took advantage to grab ahold of its head and sent it smashing into his knee.

“Thud!” Badly battered, stars filled the troll’s vision before it collapsed in a corner.

A troll had actually been defeated by a human in a physical fight??
